Styling the Perfect Nightstand

Another snow day... and I ended up dusting, cleaning and restyling! I get in these moods where I clear every single surface and give it a whole new look. Today, I tackled the bedroom. I've written about how I love to decorate from around my own home. Move things from one place to another to save money and freshen up other spaces!

This little project led me to share how I style a nightstand. I like to work with the following: 

• lamp- this functional item adds necessary height 
• books- for the nighttime reader, great to stack
• frames- great for layering
• candles- smell pretty :)
• florals- dainty and simple way to add a pop for color and texture
• decor- one small decorative piece can add personal style

When styling any surface, it's good to work with layers. This gives the opportunity to add character to this little space. Use your lamp as the tallest piece, stack books for height and frames for layers.

Spring Trends

As more flurries start to fall from the sky, (BLAHHH) I decided to add touches of spring to the house. I also checked the 10 day forecast and saw that this cold is going to break with temps in the mid 40s! Hello heat wave!

In a desperate effort for the arrival of Spring, I wanted to share some of the top decor trends for this upcoming season. 

1. Chunky knits- This trend is super cozy. It's a great way to add texture to a space. 

 

2. Watercolor Florals- This is absolutely stunning! The prints are striking and happy. A watercolor floral print would be the perfect statement piece for any space!

                                                 

3. Pastels- The quintessence of spring time! Add a pop of pastel with fresh flowers and a dainty vase or a flirty throw pillow. 

          

4. Textured ceramics- Target has some great textured ceramic pieces out for spring! Click here to see a picture of the textured ceramic egg I added to a bookshelf. 

Remember, your neutral furniture can be used as a foundation to incorporate changes with each season. Find what you love and be inspired by others to create the perfect space for you.
